Default Illustrator 9 - VERY SLOW

I've always had trouble with Illustrator 9 and my G3 tower - OS 9.2 running.
It is very slowwww to move, select, etc. a basic vector design around. It hesitates before it does what you just selected or moved....
Illustrator 6,7, and 8 always worked great.
    • I have 80 megs of ram allocated
    • I have 560 megs of ram in the computer
    • I'm not running anything else
    • I've thrown away the prefs. and relaunched, setting up new prefs.
    • I've restarted, rebuilt the desktop
    • The rest of the computer and all other software are running great. No problems printing either.
    • There are no placed eps' from photoshop, just a pretty simple 3 color logo

It just doesn't make sense. Any Help??????

    Thanks.

That's because they're not Illustrator 9. Did you run the patches? I believe there was a 9.0.1 patch, and then a 9.0.2 patch, which you need to run consecutively. After that, upgrade to 10, or better yet, CS. That should solve your problem right fine.

My experience with 9 was just dandy. It ran like gangbuster. But a lot of people, especially here in the forums, didn't like it's sluggish performance. Start throwing yer pennies into the savings pot and go for the upgrade. It'll be worth it if you do a lot of Illy work.
