Using CS Suite under 2000

I am creating an HTML newsletter using Illustrator and GoLive. Will probably be a page on the company's main site, too.

The template for the main portion of the page has been created in Illustrator. There are graphics (vector-based) and text boxes that will not change. I have made these into slices and in GoLive, they link to different things - perhaps an URL or perhaps an anchor, further on down the page.

The will be sections that will change weekly. A text box and a few lists of links.

My question - for the things that change weekly. WHERE do I create these? It seems that you should be able to create a slice within Illustrator and make it a HTML text type slice and each week, I edit the text that needs to be edited in Illustrator, save the file and GoLive will automatically update itself, since this file is a SmartObject in GoLive.

But looking the forum, that doesn't seem to work the way it reads in the manual.

Or do I make all the changes each week in GoLive?
