Default Illustrator & RAW File Format

I have Illustrator 10. I am going to be working with RAW file formats. Photoshop imports such files easily, but Illustrator will not work with them. Are there plans to add a RAW file format import filter into Illustrator?

Default Re: Illustrator & RAW File Format

Illustrator is a vector imaging program and only allows for limited Placing of raster image formats. RAW is not included as a compatible raster format for Illustrator. But then even PhotoShop won't handle 100% RAW formats. RAW is not yet a standardized format to all cameras. But if you can open your RAW images into PhotoShop, then just SAVE AS a PSD file and Illustrator will Place those just fine, even with transparency included.
