Illustrator Blacks - Adobe Illustrator Windows

Amy, Apart from the comment in posts #9&15 that the best black is adapted to the artwork in question: What happens if you: 1. Create a GIF covering part of your black and print that? 2. Make a copy and Rasterize? 3. Use the PostScript driver (if the printer has one) for the print?...

    Amy,
If I follow your problem correctly, I think an option may be to change the color pallet to grayscale for this layer and then make the black at 100%

    Thanks for the advise dean!
I just tried that and for some reason it still printed gray and not a solid black.

Well, then, how about this. On the color pallet, under the Transparency tap, is the Opacity set for 100% ?

Yes the opacity is set for 100%. The Doent color mode is set to CMYK and the actual layer is set to CMYK. I also tried changing that layer to grayscale and making it 100% K, I got the same results. Thanks for all your help Dean!!

    Amy,

Did you find the answers to Q 1,2,3 in post #20, and if you did, will you share the answers? I hope they may shed a bit more light on where to look further.
