Illustrator Crashes When Opening a File

I've got this file I been working on in Illustrator CS. It was working fine for a while, however, when I tried to open it one day it would crash Illustator. All attempts to open it would crash Illustrator on my computer. When I moved the file to my partner's computer I was able to open it in Illustrator.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can open up this file on my computer?

Mac OS 10.3, G4 dual 500, Illustrator CS

Try placing the file in a blank AI document and resave.

Thanks for your help. I think you mean opening up a new Illustrator file, copying the contents from the problem file and pasting it in the new file.

I tried that and the file still crashes Illustrator on my computer.

I know what to do create a new user account first moving that file to a place you will be able to access it from another user account such as the Applications folder then log into that user and then launch AI and then open the file and resave it with another name. Or place it in a new blank AI document.

BTW if it it opens or places properly in the new user account but not when you log in to your older user account well you have a conflict either a font in the old user/library/font folder or a preference etc.

Thanks for the clue--that seemed to work. I made a new user account --opened the file in the new user account. When it opened, Illy asked for the font which was "Adobe Garamond Pro." (that's the only font family I used in the file.) Then I had an Idea. I switched to my account. Turned off Suitcase which effectively turns off all of the fonts and was able to open the file in my account without a problem. Then I had another idea. While the file was open in my account (using the default font) I turned on Suitcase which turned the fonts on. Then I saved the file under a different name. I closed the file then opened the new name file and it opened fine, the problem was that some of the text became black (before it was white) I changed the color back to white, saved the file again. Everything seems to be fine now.
