Re: Illustrator CS
Can you remove all the files with 'Adobe' (eg Adobe UAM) and Illustrator in their title from ~/Library/Preferences (that is the user's prefs folder)
Basically trash any shared Adobe prefs and all Illustrator 10.0/CS prefs.
I installed CS on lots of Macs with older versions running. No change to OS X version and then Illustrator has started to crash with Unexpectedly Quit message.
Removing the prefs did the job -- dont know how long for.
My theory - old prefs files affect its behaviour and cause the problem somehow.
Keep me posted of results.

Re: Illustrator CS
I trashed the `/Library/Preferences (user prefs) and it worked!
I appreciated your input. Unfortunately the Apple site is more active and someone else told me this on the same day I had the problem on Feb 3rd. It is funny on how we get solutions to our problems through generous other individuals and not the people who provide us with the software after spending a lot of money with their company.
Thanks again, Tom

Re: Illustrator CS
No worries. I think that the software companies have realised that we - the Users - are the testers and knowledge-gatherers regarding their overly complicated products, that they have less time to test and make robust.
Thus it has transpired that these forums have become a source for people to solve their problems.
The problem with them though is that there is now too much information and too many sources to search. I spend all my time looking for solutions and not getting anything else done.

Re: illustrator CS
Are you on a Scandinavian Keyboard anyway some languages you can't do this directly but what you can do is insert it with the Glyph palette and record it as an action and assign a keyboard shortcut and now you are essentially back to where you want to be. The other way is to write a script on the same principal and write a script and assign a keyboard shortcut.
That os the best I believe can be done in this situation.

Re: illustrator CS
I also have the same problem (G5 with Mac Os Panther 10.3.3). Until Adobe has a propper upgrade try with text>pictograms.

Re: illustrator CS
Are you guys on a Scandinavian keyboard. You have to either use the Glyph or if you want create n action or script to insert the @ from the glyphs palette and then assign a keyboard short cut to that action or script.

Re: Illustrator CS
I don't know but try posting your question with a more specific subject line. You may not get the response you want with a generic title like "Illustrator CS." Good luck.

Re: Illustrator CS
It works for me.
Try throwing away your Illustrator preferences.
