I haven't noticed any probs with Illustrator / MX2004 but I have with some combination of Photoshop CS / GoLive CS & Flash. If Photoshop & GoLive are running Flash MX will NOT start. If Flash is running and I then start GoLive it loads up OK, but if I try to edit an HTML file or site with it the application (GoLive) just disappears! (no warning). I haven't put in much investigation on this yet - I've only just bought MX2004 (thanks to Adobe discontinuing LiveMotion!)- BUT there is something suspicious I've found - : On the Macromedia support site they mention a problem in which Flash MX "refuses to start" and say that the solution is to check your processes tab in Task Manger and delete any process called "~e5d141.tmp". They also state that Dreamweaver can cause this process to start. They say if you delete this process, and any flash.exe process, then Flash will start up. BUT - I've since found that at least Photoshop ALSO causes this process to start, and I'm beginning to think this is what is causing the conflict. I've found reference to this process being something to do with licencing software, but am yet to check it out thoroughly. Could it be that when your Illustrator doesn't start you are also running photoshop? Maybe check your processes and kill any of these ~e5d141.tmp files (as long as neither pShop or Flash are running).... this all sounds suss to me and I'll continue to look into it. I don't expect much help from either Adobe or Macromedia - they probably know something about this, but have some political agenda for not fixing or saying anything.
