Illustrator CS doesn't display all features of a .eps file

I have a properly coded .eps file (it displays properly in GhostView, for example), but when I open the file in Adobe Illustrator (Illustrator CS version 11.0.0) not all the relevant features are displayed. In particular, some features seem to be cropped at the right margin. Not all. There are horizontal bars that seem to get drawn properly all the way to the right. But other features that are supposed to be drawn are omitted, e.g. hash marks on those horizontal bars; small arrows above the bars on the right end, etc.

I'm a novice Illustrator user. I tried adjusting the Document Setup for the Artboard. It made no difference to the display problem.

I'm working on Windows XP, I have 2 gigs of RAM, I've got plenty of disc space I have a 64Mb Nvidia graphics card. No error messages are displayed when the file is viewed. But the display doesn't include features that should be there.

I'd appreciate any help anyone can provide.
