Illustrator CS File associations on Windows 2000
Hello,
I recently got Creative Suite at work and installed it. Everything works good, except I can not get my Illustrator files to associate with the program. AI or EPS files will not associate.
I have went to folder options and told it to associate, I've done the open with, and I've re saved. It just does not want to associate. It doesn't even associate when I create a new document and save it. I've tried the help menu and searching the adobe site. I just can't find anything that covers this issue.
Does anyone have any ideas I can try? I can open the files, but it is really frustrating when I have a bunch of generic windows icons every where. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Re: Illustrator CS File associations on Windows 2000
I have the same problem and posted the problem a few months ago and still have not found a fix--it's frustrating--I've tried everything. I wish you luck and hope someone can find a fix--it's probably a Windows problem. I have XP home edition.

Re: Illustrator CS File associations on Windows 2000
I finally just re-installed it and it works fine now. All of the associations are working. I don't like doing that, but I don't like having generic icons more. I don't know if that will help you or not.

Your icons still won't be stable. Just wait and watch. Soon you will see the icons are changing just like before your re-install.
Sorry

Re: Illustrator CS File associations on Windows 2000
Possible fix: change icon size in Control Panel/Display/Appearance/Effects, then change back
Might be full or corrupt ShellIconCache
