Illustrator CS gradient for two color job
I am working in Illustrator CS on Mac 10.3.3
I am working on a two color (two PMS) color job. I have one rectangle that is filled with a gradient that goes from 100% of PMS color #1 to white. On top of that is a group of rectangles that is filled with a gradient that goes from 100% of PMS color #2 to white.
Will this print correctly? I seem to recall a printer telling me that when you are doing a gradient with a PMS color, you can't go to white. Is 0% of the PMS color equivalent to white? Or should the gradient go to, say, 5% of the PMS color?

Re: Illustrator CS gradient for two color job
Since Illustrator 9+, Gradients can now contain more than one spot color and a combination of spot and process swatches and still separate correctly. So, your elements will separate correctly.
But, to make a "clean" gradient that only is suppose to contain one swatch color, you should go from 100% of the color to 0% of the SAME swatch color.
Always double check your separations by outputting separations to paper, output seps and distill to pdf, place in InDesign CS and check separation preview there or open the .ai file in Acrobat 6 pro and check the separation preview there.
