Illustrator CS love
It seems like there's a lot of bad mojo around AI on these forums. How about we use this thread to talk about our positive experiences with CS? I'll start.
The speed is fantastic. It really feels like AI8, IMHO.
PDF output totally negates the need for Distiller, with support for PDF/X and saved PDF styles.
I love the new print dialog with its ability to crop and pan the image right within the print preview window.
3d; I don't use it much but it's UI is really intuitive-good job Adobe.
Anyone else?

Although it still needs improvement I love being able to import text and and apply styles to the text.

Sure it has some bugs, but Adobe is the second largest software developer for a reason, they don't suck and they will fix the bugs and Illustrator will totally rock.
My favorite Application!

Illustrator has always been my favorite, most-used, workhorse application. CS is all the more.
It's not mentioned much, but have you all played around with the new Scribble effect?

Haven't had it long enough to address stability issues I've read about, but
WOW!!!! What feature set!!!! I love the distort features (I use them on text often in my sign business). Illustrators integration with Image Ready to make web-ready art is an incredible time saver for me. And editable transparent TEXT. Who'da thunk it?!?! Adobe Rocks

All of those statments make them the opposite of the largest, you know.

[Edited by LRK]
Whoops! I forgot this is the Illustator Forum. I posted what I like about Photoshop CS. Sorry. :)
I do like Illustrator CS but can only compare it to vs. 8 & 9 since I didn't have 10. I do miss the ability to save custom workspaces though -- on a daily basis I miss this. I guess because I only have one monitor and I make a mess with my palettes. I'm always trying to find something that's hidden and I find myself rearranging palettes constantly. Sorry... didn't mean to complain.

In what way do they make them the opposite of the largest?

Re: Illustrator CS love
These may have been in Vs. 10 but they are features I appreciate and enjoy with AICS:
I like that Illustrator CS & Flash are more compatible now.
I like the Save for Web features.
The 3D is cool but can bog down. Also find it challenging to get right sometimes.
The new Libraries are nice.
The new Scribble Effects is cool although I've not had much use for it so far.
Since I practiced with Adams fix I have very few problems. It seems the only time it crashes is when I push it to the limits with a large 3D file that already has Styles applied or something like that.

Re: Illustrator CS love
I gotta say... Illustrator CS is like having an old friend back after a 3 year absence.
Although I upgraded to 9 and 10, I never used them, they were simply way to slow for the way I work. With AICS, it's like working in v8 with the additional features. Sure some things could use some minor tweaking, but overall it's by far the best thing since v8.
Some great things about AICS:
The liquify tools! Wooo-hoo!
The 3d effect is great for simple objects. Or for creating something quickly for reference.
The ability to save selections, combined with layers and sub layers pretty much gives you instan access to any selection you need. (I realize you could do this in v10, but it's just faster in CS)
Text on a path is great.
These combined withthe added speed and stability that 9 and 10 lacked have really made me feel like I got my money's worth.

Re: Illustrator CS love
The Liquify tools are Warp, Twirl, Pucker and so on, right below the rotate tool. Worth checking out.
Save Selection is one of the most powerful overlooked features in the release (it was in AI 10, too). Select any number of objects, froom any combination of layers and groups, and go to Select - Save Selection. You're given a chance to name your selection, and then you can recall it at any time (from the Select menu), even if you move the objects to different layers and groups.

Re: Illustrator CS love
Ah yes... so that's what those are called. Yes, they are cool.
Save Selection is new to me. I'm elated to know about it. Helpful thread, this one.
Thanks!

Re: Illustrator CS love
I agree whole-heartedly! Ill CS is a great achievement. I was using version 8 for as long as I could, until I had to upgrade to OSX necessitating the switch to Ill v10 for a short period. Good to get out of that.
As a heavy user of multiple tiled pages, I was initially annoyed by the moved "Page Setup" but now love that whole page-repositionable/scaleable window in the Print Dialog. Still miffed that the font list has a few quirks (for instance, it doesn't default to the "regular" weight of a font chosen, ignoring your selection until you drill down to the specific weight).
And Is anyone putoff by the raster preview that takes a moment to refresh when scrolling around? I guess with the complexity of calculating the preview it's necessary, but it still throws me off every once in a while. And other times I think it's a kind of a cool effect!

Re: Illustrator CS love
AI is smooth and groovy for me. Generally any chat/forum will be full of complaints. That's what they're for, I suppose. If theres not a problem, people work, not complain. I have no complaints.
