illustrator cs mac os 10.3.3

HI Cant find any info on this problem i'm having

Installed Mac os 10.3.3 on a G4 with a clean HD that works fine. Then installed Illustrator 10, when i try and start it it bounces in the Dock then disappears, no errors just nothing??, i tried it in Mac OS classic and it works fine, Upgraded to Illustrator CS and i get the same problem. i have repaired my disk permissions and this did nothing. i have no preferences but i have not started the programe yet, is that OK?

Please help my Work is starting to pile up..

for the record. All my adobe products have the same problem i.e. Photoshop, Acrobat 6
