Re: Illustrator cs - outline text blurry
Your EPS files imported in QuarkXPress wil lalways impost as 72 ppi when viewing them on screen. Zooming in won't improve the appearance. The image will, however, print perfectly fine to a PostScript printer or to a PDF via Acrobat Distiller.
If you require a higher resolution preview, the simplest solution is to scale your artwork to 200% in Illustrator (scale line weights and patterns), then scale to 50% (or 50% of what you desire, so a 60% image now goes down to 30%). Not good enough? Then use 400% and 25%. One caveat: Your printed files and PDFs will be virtually unaffected, but the embedded previews in the EPS and the QuarkXPress file will use 300% more memory.

Re: Illustrator cs - outline text blurry
It's an EPS and the resolution is a low resolution proxy the enhanced preview extension is supposed to correct this except that it will also crash Quark before it gets to that point. So that is the way it is.
I can make a suggestion use ID CS instead where you can import AI files without saving them as eps.

Re: Illustrator cs - outline text blurry
Check QuarkXpress's website for an Full-Resolution Preview Xtension. Quark also has an upgrade of 6.1 for all registered users that will include these Extentions.

Re: Illustrator cs - outline text blurry
You are correct I had a problem with Suitcase at least I think or perhaps a font.
The full Resolution extension works very well indeed.
