    Default Illustrator CS: Printing problem

I need help for print (setup) in Illustrator CS.

I have a plotter which can use paper roll with width of 54 inches. But in Illustrator, I have trouble to use the paper efficiently. It always assume the width is shorter than length when I define the paper. For example, if I want to print a poster with 54x24. It always prints in portrait orientation so it wastes a lot of paper. If I force it to landscape, it only show the 24 inches. If I define the paper 54x56, then it can print all stuff out, but my printer will roll paper to 56 inches because it thinks the length is 56inches. Tried to define the paper as 24x54 and 54x24, it always orientates in the 54 as the length. Any idea?

Thanks, Karen. I thought Illustrator CS should be better in printing. It seems it is a bug. Right now I use Illustrator 10 to solve the problem.

Hi, I recently switched from Illustrator 9 to the CS version and when I apply my crop marks to my cards they show on the screen, however they don't show when printed out to cut them. How do I get the crop marks to print out. Please advise. Thanks

Dont use cropmarks for this, they are for exporting and setting the
bounding box.. Use trimmarks.. go to filter, create, trimmarks

Yeah... except someone here recently told me that in IL 11, Adobe, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to call those "crop marks," as well.

But, at least they had the sense to finally rename the original crop marks the "crop area". Illustrator for share croppers.

Interesting. Used the trim marks and they did print. I was on a printer called "Canon 860" I think and the printer stopped working so I switched over to an Epson 777i and printed it out again, yet the trim marks didn't show. Is it because of the guides are locked or something to do with layers. When I went to the setting of the printer I selected all crop, trim color bars marked to be on and I the left side of the settings showed me a picture of what I was printing, the trim, crop marks show all around the edges of the page instead of where I need them so that when I print it out I can cut it where I need to cut. Could it be that Epson setting is the problem as well? Please advise. Thanks

I'm on a Epson 777i and the trim marks won't print because when you select crop marks, color bars, trim marks on the print setting in Epson the marks are moved to the edge of the page and when printed the trim marks don't show. Could I save it as a PDF and that way the trim marks will print? Help! Please advise.
