Default Illustrator CS-Save as earlier version

I am currently running Illustratior 10.0, so I am not too familiar with the new CS version. I have this client that is running the the CS versions, and is insisting he can only save an Illustrator file for CS, not for previous versions (10.0 and below).

Can anyone please explain to me how he can save an Illustrator file for an earlier version?

    Thanks!

He needs to choose File > Export > Adobe Illustrator Legacy or Adobe Illustrator Legacy EPS.

Also be aware that there may be type issues when saving backward. See this thread:

Regarding the type isues, one possibility if you know that no further editing is going to exist (again, regarding the text), select the text and go to the "create outlines" function. You can then think of it as part of the artwork. Just a thought, good luck.

You read my mind!! That would definitely work in the majority of our cases.

I guess if we need to edit at all, it will have to assess the issue case by case, which hopefully doesn't turn into a huge mess.

    Thanks for the help!
