Illustrator CS to PDF image problems
I'm working on OSX.3 with Illustrator CS, creating ads & brochures. When I save as PDF, sometimes the images show up on the PDF as surrounded by a black box, sometimes an oval shape will convert to a square, or a drop shadow will appear as a heavy black outline around the shadowed object or text. Could I have a setting wrong on my PDF setup? I'm having a lot of trouble sending proofs to clients because of this. Thanx for any help!

Re: Illustrator CS to PDF image problems
To what version of PDF are you saving? It must be 1.4 (Acro5) or 1.5 (Acro6) for some of the objects from a AICS file to be rendered correctly. If you used the Effects menu for some of the objects (from the description above), then saving them as 1.3 (Acro4) the appearance will be flattened and the Effect lost.

Re: Illustrator CS to PDF image problems
Thanx, Larry. That's exactly what has happened. I'm still using Acrobat 4, so that must be incompatible with CS. Not only did it happen with Effects, but also with some clipart. The boxes around the clipart image turned black in the PDF. Time to upgrade the Acrobat!
