Default Illustrator CS White Overprinting and NOT set to

I have a file where the White object is overprinting when I print seperations from Quark 4, 5, and 6 as well as from PageMaker 7. When I print composite from Quark the problem goes away.

I know it is overprinting because I set the object to 50 percent black and the black overprints the item behind it.

Yes, I have checked the Attributes Overprint Fill and Stroke as well as the Transparency.

I ended up in Turning Transparency to Disabled in the EPS save dialog window.

Any Ideas on why this happens?

I do have the file so you can see what I am talking about.

You say, "Yes, I have checked the Attributes Overprint Fill and Stroke ..." so does that mean hat Overprint Fill is checked? If so, then there is nothing wrong. A composite printout will ignore overprint settings and trapping -- those things only afect separations. Overprin means that underlying images should print, allowing this object's colour to print over top of the underlying colours. If that colour is white, then the underlying colours print, then the white "prints". Of course, printing white means simply not printing anything, so the white doesn't appear.

In the file there is nothing set to overprint. The area that does overprint when printing seperated is the white portion of the screen shot.

Sorry. The "checked" seemed to point to the solution.

the really wierd part is that those areas arent filled with white, they're just blank.

I wonder if there is some sort of compound path issue going on here.

What does print there - the blue or beige?

    Jason,

In my file the stroke on the left hand logo is set to white and the right hand logo the fill and stroke of the "2" is set to white. I can create a screen shot of what I am seeing.

So that means you are seeing it with 'Overprint Preview' turned on? Or you mean at the RIP/preview level?

    It looks fine within Illustrator.

The only time it looks bad is when I print seperated from Quark or PageMaker.

I can create a Screen capture from my RIPed preview.

Yeah, if that's not a huge deal, go ahead and send me a screen shot from the RIP.
