Illustrator CS2 - Macromedia Freehand

It seems Illustrator is getting another upgrade. Macromedia are you listening? David http://www.macworld.com/2005/04/features/adobeillustrator/index.php...

They've finally moved into the 20th Century with this feature:

Colorized grayscale - Assign a spot color to a linked, embedded, or
opened grayscale image, or even apply a spot color to a drop shadow and
be confident that artwork will separate properly when printing.

note: "20th Century" vs. 21st is intended

I also saw this (which I've seen requested a lot for Freehand):

Expanded stroke options

Control the position of a stroke on a path by choosing centered, inside,
or outside.

Wonder if they've improved one of my big problems with Illustrator
(which might just be I haven't found the right menu entry. Which would
also mean it's not too intuitive or easy): working with bitmaps. Getting
them out of Illustrator and in to other programs. Though Adobe does
promise "Work with almost any type of graphic file"

CS2? Studio MX 2000? XP? OSX?

What is wrong with a simple version number?

Both Illustrator and FreeHand has been more renamed than improved by
recent upgrades. FreeHand more so, though.

Jukka,

Maybe the new version of Freehand (if we are lucky to see one) will be named MXI or MX2.

I suspect MM was waiting for CS2 to be announced to release MX2005 which
will hopefully include a decent version of FH.

If we every do see a new version of FH, it will probably be called FH 2010!

I do know what you mean though - even apple has odd names for somethings

Imagine you just want to create a simple 4pt border for a print ad. If you line
it up with your doent bounds, you only get a 2pt stroke because half's
always hanging off the edge of the page! I'm sure there are more creative ways
to use this feature, but that one alone is enough to tempt an upgrade.
Unfortunately for FHMX and many of us in the print community, Macromedia bet
the farm on Flash&Trash.
