A description of the problem...
I'll be working fine in illustrator, then click out to use photoshop, check mail, etc. then when i click back into illustrator i get the spiining clock for a good solid minute (feels like 10).

Re: Illustrator takes a long time to become active when switching between programs
btw - Im working in Illustrator 10.0.3 in OS 10.2.8 I have 2 gigs of ram and there should be NO memory issue with size of file I typically work on.

Trash Adobefnt.lst files. Don't throw away Adobefnt.db by the way.

Re: Illustrator takes a long time to become active when switching between programs
probably a large clipboard or you are running FileMaker
Illustrator and FileMaker hate each other.
If there is anything larger than a full stop (slight exaggeration) FileMaker goes to a crawl.
The only way I can get it back up to speed is copying a file name in the finder to empty the clipboard.
