    What operating system? What Illustrator version? How much memory? How many applications open?

    I had this issue before and cannot remember the files i had to delete to make illustrator work right again.

    A description of the problem...
    I'll be working fine in illustrator, then click out to use photoshop, check mail, etc. then when i click back into illustrator i get the spiining clock for a good solid minute (feels like 10).

    what do i do?

    btw - Im working in Illustrator 10.0.3 in OS 10.2.8 I have 2 gigs of ram and there should be NO memory issue with size of file I typically work on.

    Trash Adobefnt.lst files. Don't throw away Adobefnt.db by the way.

    probably a large clipboard or you are running FileMaker
    Illustrator and FileMaker hate each other.

    If there is anything larger than a full stop (slight exaggeration) FileMaker goes to a crawl.
    The only way I can get it back up to speed is copying a file name in the finder to empty the clipboard.
