IllustratorCS missing "collect fonts for output"
Where, Oh Where has my favorite little time saving option gone?! I just upgraded from a G4 to G5, from Jaguar to Panther, and from Illustrator 10 to CS. Unfortunately the collect fonts for output option seems to be unavailable. It used to be in the drop down Type menu in version 10.0.3. Does anyone know where this option can be found in the new CS version, or if it's even still there?

Re: IllustratorCS missing "collect fonts for output"
It's not there. That would make a great feature request.

Was it in 10.0.3?

Re: IllustratorCS missing "collect fonts for output"
It was never in any version of Illustrator. You can use the Find Font command and save a list of used fonts (you can save one from Document Info, too). But for "collecting for output," you'll either need to do it in InDesign, or use a plug-in like Doug Habben’s Scoop_X, available at <http://share.studio.adobe.com/> (available for AI 10 only at the moment - bug him for a CS version).

Re: IllustratorCS missing "collect fonts for output"
You could use Flight Check from Markzware <http://www.markzware.com> or a less expensive solution might be ArtFiles <http://www.code-line.com/software/artfiles.html> from code-line.com. If you just need to collect fonts and files, and you're using MacOS X, then ArtFiles is the way to go.

Re: IllustratorCS missing "collect fonts for output"
I think Eric is referring to a plugin from FontReserve, that enables AI to open fonts that are in the FR database and then collect them for output.
Eric, if you have FR, there is an update at Extensis' site for FR and the plugin for CS (the one for 10 won't work).
I use it and it works great.
