Ilustrator CS Trial Download Incompatible with Classroom In A Book

I wanted to test ILL CS to see if it would be helpful for my business. I downloaded the free 30 day trial. Not being familiar with program, I bought the "Classroom in a Book" book.($50.00) I cannot use the book, and since I tried to use the CD accompanying the book, I cannot return it. I have to assume that I am doing something wrong: otherwise this is really a rip off by Adobe. I can not get the actualy lessons on the Book's CD - only the finished picture of each chapter.

I am just guessing here but, maybe it's the interface between the two because of it being a trial version. I had great success with Classroom in a Book for version 10.

Depending on where you bought the book, I've had luck with returning something even when opened. The store can send it back and get credit.
