I'm considering purchasing Contribute
Hello,
I am a webdesigner who has used Frontpage 2003 for a few years now and
several of my clients want a CMS. I plan to move to Dreamweaver in the next
month or two. I am considering ContentSeed (which I understand works with
both FP and Dreamweaver) but then I came across Content Seed and was
wondering how they compare. My main question is:
For Contribute, would my clients have to purchase the software in order to
edit their site? (With ContentSeed, my clients could edit directly from the
internet.)
Any other recommendations or advice is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: I'm considering purchasing Contribute
Yes, Contribute requires a software license and program install. Not 100% sure
on version 4, but previous versions (read Macromedia) allowed 2 seats per
license for those w/ a Home/Work setup; still it allows a single serial # on 2
boxes.
Please take into consideration Adobe's growing tendency to issue minor updates
with more frequent "major" paying upgrades. It has gotten atrocious what Adobe
considers a major upgrade to its software; very few include any substantial
features updates worth the price. Contribute 4 is a prime example.

Unlike what is set above, i would still suggest you to evaluate on the
pros and cons for your requirements and make a decision. Probably one
person might be using a previous version of it which might suffice
his/her needs that may not suffice others. You are totally new, so you
may want to make a decision by looking and evaluating it from whats new

Re: I'm considering purchasing Contribute
I've used Contribute 3 on a clients site, and while initially i found it great
for integrating with Dreamweaver, and creating static html pages with
templates, in the long run it became a pain because many issues had to be fixed
on site, at the clients computer. The major advantage of a web insallation is
that you can fix errors / solve issues much more easily online.
Just something to consider..
