image arrays

hello all,
am looking to create some image gallery functionality in a javasrcipt based
website.

have worked most of it out, but am looking for help or examples of dynamically
adding an image name or id etc to an array of, say 10. then there will be
button functionality to add or delete particular images from the array.

any pointers?
