Image Effect - Macromedia Fireworks

How would I do the following effect on this image (the two tone shading) ? http://www.impressionsbytaj.co.uk/ I'm not familar with graphics tools, and therefore don't even know what it's called - I'm sure its a standard thing in Fireworks. TIA - Vers...

Very simple. Open greyscale image in FW. Draw the vector shape (like
rectangle) over it. Fill the shape with dark saturated red color. Now change
rectangle merge mode (available both in "Layers" and "Properties" panels)
from "Normal" to "Color" or "Tint". Basically, you should have the desired
effect by now. But nobody can stop you from playing with other merge modes,
and changing opacity as well :-) Beleive me, you'll find a lot of
interesting stuff to think of :-)))

    Thanks Ilyich,

Thought it was something standard in FW.

    All the best, Vers :-)
