Image Map into Dreamweaver - Macromedia Fireworks

I'm rebuilding a site from scratch: is it a good idea to put Fireworks docs into DW Assets? The first one I've got is an image map: can this be imported into DW as an asset? Thanks...

Yes. Don't forget to export as images and HTML. Export the HTML into
whatever folder you want the HTML files in, and the images into your
assets folder. When you import the Fireworks stuff into Dreamweaver
(Insert > Image Objects > Fireworks HTML), Dreamweaver will add both
images and HTML to the page.

When I exported the Fireworks doc I specified my assets folder, the main image for the map doesn't appear, only the two hotspots, a spacer.gif, and four "fwmenu" gifs that i don't recognize.

The two hotspot images don't appear in the page or in the assets panel; I can get them on the page by directing the image Src on the Properties Inspector to my assets folder, but the main image is a set of broken links, all of which point to the spacer.gif.

Help! Why hasn't the main part of the image map been converted into an image file?
