Default Image with Thubnail

How can an image be uploaded, resized to a handy size and at the same time the
original image be uploaded to the server to link to it. I know it can be done
with first creating a page with the full-sized image and then inserting the
image to a page and resize it there but this seems to be too complicated dor my
client. Is there an easier way?

This is completely separate from Contribute, but you might look into using
Gallery: http://gallery.menalto.com/ - it's a freeware application that runs on
*nix and Windows machines. Once you install it on the server and create
accounts for any users who need to post images, it is very easy for the client
to use. It handles making thumbnails and 'photo album' pages automatically.

thanks. It's not what I was looking for but maybe that's an alternative. Hope
Contribute will grow to the application it should be. I see again and again
that it's not totally complet, some good things seem simply to be not
implemented yet.

If (and it is a big IF) you are going to show the actual images besides the
thumbnails, and there are not a lot, you can still insert the image and
lower the presented size. Clicking on the image will then be very fast
because it's preloaded.

Check out the Starter Web Pages that come with Contribute. (The path is
really 'Starter Web Pages" - "Personal" - choose one you like.

Whoa, hold on. Ignore what I said above.

You can create thumbnails in Contribute. Put the big image where you want
it (even though it may say it's too large). Then right-click on it and take
EDIT. Use 'resize' to make the image smaller. Contribute actually makes a
separate, smaller image of it. Then you can make a link out of the picture
to the full-size original if you like.

Is that what you want? If not, I'll dive a bit deeper because I do have a
massive student photo project coming up. I can look now or later. Let me
know.
