Re: import illustrator 10 file to freehand mx
As far as I know, Adobe has never released their source code for
Illustator above version 9. To import the files, I resort to saving them
in version 7 format and then they open in FH. Of course, doing this
will mean that features not supported in the earlier version will be lost.
There are some things, like gradient colors that do not transfer well if
you need to edit the file. I usually take them out of the Illustrator
file and then add them back in Freehand. It's a pain but it works.

Re: import illustrator 10 file to freehand mx
ok, well I did this in version 7 (as I had read online somewhere), but when i do this, the images in freehand look more jagged, and not smooth. Will it still print right? It just doesn't look as clean as it was in illustrator. We are noit using gradients, so it is not really a problem. The just use clipping masks and vectors and some of them have TIFF's clipped...

Re: import illustrator 10 file to freehand mx
There should be no degradation to a line from one program to another. If
you are talking about the tiff files, there are options to control their
appearance in FH. Go to Preferences:Redraw and you will see the options
to set the screen display. Better images take more time/graphics processing.

Re: import illustrator 10 file to freehand mx
Thanks for the info - I got the imports working now... except for now on some complex vector ones, Freehand MX locks like a rock everytime..... But I will post a new post since it is a different issue!
