Anyways, create a clipping path in Photoshop and then export it as a CMYK
    EPS file.

Alternatively, you could export it as a CMYK file of any kind and mask it
with a path inside of FH.

That's a strange one. When I import the CMYK PSD file into FHMX it has what
appears to be an inverted transparency mask or alpha channel. What should be
transparent is now opaque white. What should be colored artwork is
transparent! Feathered areas are the correct, medium blue color.

No error message here when I imported it here.

I hope Bob doesn't mind me answering this one for him ;-)

I'm pretty sure (corrections welcome) that the ability to import
transparent PSDs etc into FHMX is part of its new 'raster effects'
capablities. These are all RGB-based. Even if it weren't for this bug,
any imported transparent CMYK image (along with any art that it
'interacted' with) would be converted to RGB and back to CMYK (by FH's
somewhat archaic colour management settings) at print time. This is why
the use of these effects for high-quality print work is not really
reccomended. If you really have to use them, there's no point in
converting the logos to CMYK in Photoshop. That nice conversion you did
in PS will be hosed by FH's crappy raster effects anyway.
    > what where the programmers thinking??
That Freehand is a web application, and nobody uses it for print work
    anymore. Dumb, huh?

mmm- yeah I think this is echoed throughout the print designing industry. Hope the FHD developers actually read these threads!
