    Is it possible to make the background of a 3D object transparent while importing it to Director (shockwave 3d format)?

    Yes, it is. You can uncheck the Direct to Stage property of the 3D
    member and use the background transparent ink for that sprite. Keep in
    mind that this will decrease a lot the performance.

    Another technique is to capture the stage as an image and use it as a
    background of the 3D camera. I have an example of this with open source.
    Check it on the source section of my site.

    I think capturing the background is probably the best thing to do for me...By the way, you're 3D simulations are excellent!
