Importing Corel Draw File to Indesign - Adobe Indesign Windows

Is it possible to import a Corel Draw 8 file into Indesign CS in the windows 2002 environment? The problems I've encountered are loosing formatting, or loosing the ability to edit. Currently we hae numerous files in Corel Draw 8 and we'd like to convert them to Indesign CS and be able to edit them without reformatting the entire thing. Is there a filter that would support Corel 8 files???? Thank you....

Not that I'm aware of. When I was working with those I would either export to EPS or re-create them in ID by means of copy paste if it was a table or something else I wanted to edit in ID.

I am still working with files that we used to use Corel for. The only way is to re-create it in ID AFAIK.

Have you got Illustrator CS? You can open Corel files directly in Illustrator. Unfortunately if it's multiple pages you would have to make many files.

Do you want to import or convert?

CorelDraw and Indesign are two different types of programs. You can
certainly import Draw files (as EPS or PDF) into Indesign. But if you want
to convert Draw files to anything, you'll have to convert them to some type
of drawing program format. If I wanted to get rid of CorelDraw, I would
convert my CDR files to Illustrator, by opening them in Illustrator.

Same as Ken above, these two programs are really different animals, and going from Corel to Illustrator makes more sense.

If you want to take multiple Corel files and change them to EPS files, far easier to use the batch convert utility in Corel and do them all at once.

But as for going to InDesign, unless you script something yourself (which would be quite a feat), I don't see how that would work.
