importing files in order?!
Hello all,
I'm on a MAC OS X machine w/ the latest version of Acrobat - When I try to import multiple files into one PDF, the files do not import in order according to their file names(for example: 0001.tif, 0002.tif, 0003.tif)...is there a reason for this? Is there a setting I need to change? Thanks for any help!

Re: importing files in order?!
This question comes up in some form at least once a month.
The unix kernel contains directory caching and when an application asks for a directory list, the kernel supplies any entries in the cache and then retrieves the remainder from the disk in the quickest time which is the order stored on the disk as this reduces head movements.
I have not found an API to ask the OS/X to sort them but it may exist ,as it displays them in the browser.
I have developed a plug-in that sorts .pdf files into order and then inserts them. I gave away a v5 version called InsertSorted. My management people say I can sell this or other plug-ins to help recoup costs but I am not allowed to give them away.
Cheers

Re: importing files in order?!
As yet there has not been a problem from anyone using it.
We charge US$50 or A$100 to help us pay for development costs and the SDK.
It also converts several file formats.
