importing objects with transparent background
I am using Freehand 10 and have problems with importing objects with a
transparent background from Photoshop 5.0.
It works fine with grayscale TIFF, but doesn't work with TIFF RGB objects. GIF
objects don't work at all. Does anybody know how to overcome this problem?

Re: importing objects with transparent background
you can use transparancy in a mannor - with a Grayscale bitmap image, import as
normal and then on the object pallet you get a transparancy check box - tick it
- now you notice it becomes a B/W image no shades of gray hear! you can change
the colour of the black part of the Bitmap image by now regarding it as an
object with a fill so you could set the black parts of a bitmap to be a pantone
spot or simmilar - also finaly there is a cut off slider if you like which
alows adjustment over what tones in the gray image are to be transparant and
what are to be coloured.....
N.B. - no true transparency support is avalible in FH (=<10) you cant do more
than a clipping path with any RGB or CMYK image---- although you can get fancy
if you use chipshop to make complex selections then convert that to a clipping
path then bring that lot into FH you can automate the clipping of some very
complex shapes/multiple shapes - you just cant make it anything other than
100% transparent or 100% opaque -
