Importing Tiffs & Eps - Macromedia Freehand

:confused; I have just upgraded my Mac to OSX , I am working in Freehand 8 in Classic Mode. I opened a file that I had set up with a background that had a imported tiff file on it for tracing and now the the quality of that file is just big blurrey pixels. I tried resaving it as an eps and reimporting it, the quality is better but still to low for accurate tracing. What happened? any solutions out there?...

Been a while since I worked in 8. Isn't there a preference (like in MX)
that controls the resolution of placed bitmaps?

I looked through all the preferences and I can't see one which enables me to change the resolution of an imported image.

If it's there, it would be under the Display preferences.

Is your TIFF a flattened TIFF or does it have layers, clipping paths, etc.?

I just found the answer! it was in the preferences in -redraw- I had to go in and check the High resolution image display box and now it works fine. Thank you all for your help.:D

As long as it's still a vector illustration app like Illustrator or
Corel Draw you will be best off with exporting to an Adobe Illustrator 7
file and saving back to the same. Just watch out because gradients will
get weird and there's a chance of any live text jumping around.

There is no way to go from FH to a image editor like Photoshop and back
    to editing in FH.
