Importing White Illustrator EPS into coloured box
I'm trying to import or place a white Illustrator vector eps into a coloured graphic frame in InDesign. All I keep getting is the placed file that appears as a solid white panel instead of the white logo I am expecting.
If I try to copy from Illustrator then paste into InDesign, I end up with Illustrator crashing and rattling on about a pdf format???
Does anyone have any ideas...???
I'm running Tiger on a G4 with ID CS2 and Illustrator 10.0.3.
Many thanks,
Kelly

Save as AI and place that.

Re: Importing White Illustrator EPS into coloured box
Stop using Macintosh-Preview in AI's save dialog.
Use TIFF Preview instead.
or
Do not use embedded preview in ID's import options.
Let ID render its own preview instead.

Re: Importing White Illustrator EPS into coloured box
All three of the solutions suggested by Bob and Gerald will work. Just to clarify the last one -
Do not use embedded preview in ID's import options. Let ID render its
own preview instead.
In the Import Options dialog box for EPS files, this option is "Rasterize PostScript."
Also, turning on "Overprint Preview" in the View menu should render it correctly.

And I highly recommend doing so with white artwork. If it's set to
overprint it won't print at all and this will show up with overprint
preview turned on.
