I recently bought the Canon 5000f scanner. The scanning function worked very well through the Toolbox using OS X Jaguar. What did not work was the OCR software. After a lot of time looking around and with Canon and Apple support, the bottom line as I understand it is that you have to start the OCR software in OS 9 which I can not do with Jaguar. I scanned about 50 old B&W photos and the scanner did very well I thought with automatic contrast and sharpening. I sent the Canon as I do need that OCR function and am going to get an Epson. I'm curious to see how they compare.
