Inability to Publish Rich Text Documents (RTF)
Unable to publish rich text documents (RTF) using Contribute CS3 from the
drafts console. When a user submits a draft for review and the draft contains
a rich text document (RTF) file Contribute will get stuck in an endless loop of
clicks sounds as it tries to open the RTF file. According to all the support
documentation Contribute can not open RTF files. Even if you set file editor
preferences and make a primary editor for .rtf files Contribute is still unable
to open the RTF file. With all other files that Contribute does not support,
when you open the file from the draft console Contribute will prompt you with
the default internet screen asking you to save, open or cancel. Then Contribute
will allow you to choose to publish that draft. However with RTF files
Contribute never makes far enough to prompt you with any choices. Contribute
will simply lock up and must be forced to close with Task Manager. I have
tried this scenario on several computers with the same result. I now have RTF
files in my draft console that I am unable to publish and unable to remove from
the draft console.
