Incorrect colour displayed - Adobe Indesign Windows

I've got a rather annoying problem. When selecting colours in my InDesign doents, they won't display correctly. I select the colour, and click ok, but InDesign automatically resets it to a duller version. It seems to be with the extremes of the RGB range predominantly. It seems to be pretty random too. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't It's consistently infuriating. Any ideas?...

Do you have color management set up correctly?

I have no idea. The fact that the colours don't work makes me thing that I don't.

Is there anyway to set this to default? What settings should I use otherwise?

I do get messages when opening some doents to say that the colours are out of whack. It gives me the option to keep the current settings, or use the doent's settings.

    Thanks

ID is trying to display the colors the way they will print. If you have
everything set up to print to a CMYK printer, then the colors will look
duller. This is by design and is completely correct.

The CMYK color gamut is way smaller than RGB.

Is it possible to set it for monitor only?

I'm using it to storyboard Web Interfaces, hence R=0 G=0 B=255 for hyperlinks. Can I force it not to make this adjustment?

In Color Settings, I've set it to 'Emulate InDesign CS 2.0 CMS Off', which greys out all of the other color options.

    Still no joy.

It's weird, the colour setting just won't stay as I've set it. If i'm trying to get 100% blue, I'll set it to R=0 G=0 B=255 but it displays much duller. When I go back to the color picker, the settings have changed to R=58 G=64 B=142! The same happens for all colours at the extremes of the RGB range.

So you have any transparency on the pages? If so, make sure your
transparency blend space is set to RGB.
