Incremental Invoice Numbers? - Adobe Acrobat Macintosh

We're very new to Acrobat (just bought it yesterday). We need to make an invoice for our company. Is there a tutorial which shows how to make incremental invoice numbers, so that each time a new invoice is written the invoice number goes up by one? I know this is possible, but haven't got a clue where to start... Thanks....

So you're saying I would have to buy a whole separate program for just that one feature?

OK - let me re-word this .... what do you want from Acrobat?

It's a final file format from another application - it does has the
ability to add / increment invoice numbers but I sense you want more ...

    Elaborate ....

Nope, that's all we need. Every time we use the Invoice form we need the invoice number to go up by one.

....so if we were to make an invoice for something that you bought, and the invoice number was 100 - the very next invoice that we wrote would be numbered 101... the next one after that would be 102... the next one after that would be 103... etc. etc...

And what happens when you need to find old invoices. What did so and so
order last year. He wants to repeat the order. PDF invoices are good if
you want to send them out, not for creation or internal use. REALLY.
Filemaker is easier to use and much cheaper than Acrobat. The best part
is you can use them together (which is what I do). Don't take our word
for it. Go to Filemaker.com (Filemaker is owned by Apple). Download the
trial and take a look at the invoice templates that come with it. Of
course you can roll your own, quite easily.

Think database and not PDF if you want a shrink-wrap solution. Either
Bento or Filemaker on the Mac is just great. They can output the
invoices to Adobe PDF and you can use Acrobat for whatever else you need
    ;-)

We use Filemaker for our database invoices and output to PDF and it's
    superb.

Another thing about FileMaker Pro is you can host your forms on a local
network and fill them in on a central database-as long as you have a
small number of users trying to access the form simultaneously.

    End of FileMaker Pro plug.
