InDesign & Indesgn CS Spellcheck problems - Adobe Indesign Windows

Hi, We have several doents (Templates created in CS and exported as Indesign 2 doents for editing) where spellcheck is not working - the doents have a comments layer (normally hidden) and the main doent layer itself. When you run spell check it just checks the background (comments) layer, not the actual doent itself. Are the doents corrupt, or is this a bug in the software? Or is the problem because of differences in Indesign CS (which the communications dept uses) and Indesign 2.0.2 (which the PA's use to modify the doent)? Darren...

Default InDesign & Indesgn CS Spellcheck problems

    Hi,

We have several doents (Templates created in CS and exported as Indesign 2 doents for editing) where spellcheck is not working - the doents have a comments layer (normally hidden) and the main doent layer itself.

When you run spell check it just checks the background (comments) layer, not the actual doent itself.

Are the doents corrupt, or is this a bug in the software? Or is the problem because of differences in Indesign CS (which the communications dept uses) and Indesign 2.0.2 (which the PA's use to modify the doent)?

or is this a bug in the software?

There might be a bug. I've seen several posts complaining about the spell checker and the find/change. Although I have not had problems with those, others are experiencing these problems.

Maybe no one has answered you yet because no one has an answer. I don't either but I thought you might want to know that you're not alone.

I missed this message first time around. Have you checked that the language assigned to the text that is being overlooked is a language for which you have a dictionary installed. There's been a recent spate of complaints of this sort that seem to have their roots in imported Word doents that have languages assigned to them that are either not supported by InDesign or for which InDesign's name is subtly different.
