    Default InDesign Constantly Crashes

While working in Adobe's InDesign CS, the program will sudden crash. It will crash from the smallest things like making a text box, or drawing a line.

    Here is the Crashlog:

    Date/Time: 2006-10-03 10:37:28 -0400
    OS Version: 10.3.9 (Build 7W98)
    Report Version: 2

    Command: InDesign CS
    Path: /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS/InDesign CS.app/Contents/MacOS/InDesign CS
    Version: CS 3.0.1 (3010)
    PID: 809
    Thread: 0

    Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERN_INVAILD_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xbf7fffe0

The last line of the crashlog-

    0x971dd000 - 0x97562fff com.apple.HIToolbox 1.3.7 (???)
    /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A/HIToolbox

It is a Mac G4, and InDesign has all available updates.

The last line isn't very helpful. Scan it to find which thread crashed (it will say thread # crashed) and then see what the lines just under that are about. The topmost one in the thread that crashed is what it was trying to do just before the kernel kicked it to the curb.

The OS is 10.3.9 Panther with all updates.
    It's a G4 Mac.
    There are no maintenance issues.
I've tried deleting the preferences with no luck.

There is 1GB of RAM, and several gigs of free space.

Dumb remark. If you're crashing constantly then you most certainly have maintenance issues. 9 times out of 10 your problems are font related.

What is several gigs? 3? 50? 100? Have you run disk utility? Do you have/use Disk Warrior? Do you turn off your machines each day? Do you have postscript fonts and dfnts with same exact name (Helvetica and Helvetica.dfnt)? Are you using font management? More info please.

Try making sure InDesign uses the permissions for the Everyone group on the system. Read/Write
