    Default InDesign CS 3.0.1 & Tiger 10.4.X

I have read in past Tiger postings on Apple's site of woes with InDesign CS when upgrading to 10.4.3 or later. So I sit at 10.4.2, hoping to hear more favorable experiences with later Tiger updates. The 10.4.8 update has some things that I would like to apply (especially the Comcast connectivity improvement), but I worry...

I use InDesign CS every day and cannot afford to lose use of this app. I use PhotoShop CS (v8) sometimes, too, but InDesign all the time.

Does anyone recommend a version of Tiger that plays well and would allow me to apply some of the more recent security updates to my Mac? I'm on an iMac G5 w/iSight: PPC, 1.5 GB of RAM, 2.1 GHz, 250 GB hard drive.

    Thanks for any advice!

Why fool around with older updates? 10.4.8 works just fine.

Nothing wrong with 10.4.8. Runs just fine in combination with CS2 apps and CS apps as far as I can see (Intel iMac 20"). (As a sidenote: 10.4.8 gives open type support to MS Word...)

I'm interested to know about this:

I have read in past Tiger postings on Apple's site of woes with InDesign
CS when upgrading to 10.4.3 or later.

Can you say more about these problems, Diana? Aside from the problem with SMB file servers and InDesign that was introduced and then fixed by Apple in that time frame, I'm not aware of any problems between InDesign and Tiger.

I would have to re-scan the Apple site, but I believe most of the posted problems were that ID would either crash continually or fail to open. I'm fairly certain they were mainly after the 10.4.3 update.

Sounds like only one person has had trouble so far with 10.4.8 and ID but he's using ID4 and I'm still on IDCS 3.0.1. So I guess I'll go for it!
