InDesign CS - Automatic relinking - more like manual

I have a 'new' InDesign CS document that I want to paste some images into from another 'old' InDesign CS document. The image files (Tiffs) are stored on CD.

After I copy the relevant images into one folder on our server and eject the CD, I need to relink the new InDesign doc to the server versions of the pics. No problem, i thought.

I select a group of images in the Links palette, and click on Relink. I browse to and select the first one, and then expect the rest to Relink 'automatically'. But that doesn't work. I have to manually Relink each one, even though it is next to the first one in the same folder. It seems to build the 'relinked' paths in its memory, and then process the ones I've manually relinked.

This even happens when opening the document, after I click 'Relink Automatically'. Automatic relinking?? Manual, more like.

This used to be a breeze with InDesign 202, and I've come to rely on it.

Does anyone have a fix? Any advice much appreciated.

save the file and close it
open the file and when it says fix links go ok and find the first one. the other missing ones should now find themselves automatically.
