InDesign CS Book will NOT repaginate
I established a new InDesign CS book (running Windows XP) and added a series of multipage documents, each shows it's number of pages (1-5) rather than it's sequential page numbers in the book. The book will not repaginate into sequential page numbers. The books are closed when I try to repaginate. Each document is set to "continue from previous document." Automatic page renumbering is checked. I shift click to highlight each document in the book. It still will not show sequential page numbers in the book palette. What am I doing wrong? What have I overlooked? Aghast & haggard here... ;-) Many thanks, M.

To create a book in InDesign
You go into File/New Book and put all of your pages in that book file, and you can print right out of there.. -

Re: InDesign CS Book will NOT repaginate
Go to your preferences and make sure section numbering is used for each document. You should then be able to repaginate whether the files are opened or closed.

Re: InDesign CS Book will NOT repaginate
If you are trying to make your book show page X of Y, see this posting.
Dominic Hurley "Numbering Pages X of Y" 4/14/04 5:06pm </cgi-bin/webx?13@@.2cd10de9/24>
If not, what you need to do is insert an auto page number character (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+N if you still have the default shortcut keys) on the master page (do this for each section of the book). Go to the first page (Page 1) of each section of your book. Click Layout>Numbering and Section Options>Start Page Numbering at: 1>Section Prefix (Enter the number of the section here with a hyphen i.e. "2-")>Tick Include Prefix when Numbering Pages>Ok.
