Default Indesign CS <-> Page Maker 7.0 data transfer / convert problem

    Greetings,

One of our clients demanded us to provide them with some publications exported to PDF. We've created those documents in InDesign CS and sent exported PDFs to our client. Then our costumer decided, that he wants to put corrections in the text of those creations himself with Page Maker 7.0 or some free software. This is a must. But there is a problem. Page Maker doesnt import any exported from InDesign files for edition...
    The questions are:
    - is there any way to export the text in tables from InDesign to Page Maker without screwing the tables?
    - will the purchase of Adobe Page Maker Plug-ins Pack v1.0 help? Will this make InDesign export documents into Page Maker file?
    - is there a software (cheap or free) that can provide our client an ability to make serious text changes in PDF with tables?

    help
    we're short on time

    But it cannot be done.

Can they be copied into Word or Excel, then copied into PM? There must be
some way to copy table data, but as for the tables themselves, I doubt it
    will happen easily.

Nothing will make ID export to something PM can handle. (This is an
oft-requested feature) Of course, you could export text files and PM can
handle them, but that's not what you're after.

"Serious text changes" and "PDF" don't go together happily. It won't be
cheap or easy. Acrobat (not the free reader) can edit text, but if the
customer thinks he's going to rearrange tables with it, then he's not
    familiar with PDF at all.

If the customer wants to do what you're doing, he needs to have what you
    have...IDCS. That's a tough spot, I wish you well with it. ;-)

Actually, Adobe Acrobat 6 is the ideal vehicle for your client to make corrections and annotations with, and then send the PDF with changes back to you. Of course, they will have to use Acrobat (the right tool for the job) and not insist on some knot-headed workflow of new InDesign to old PageMaker. That makes no sense at all. But then again, that is what clients do! :-)
