Indesign CS palette docking - Adobe Indesign Windows

Can anyone advise how I move the various palettes away from the RHS docking bar once they are opened? I am getting a neck strain trying to figure out what palettes are open or not (silly idea to begin with) or conversely can one move this docking bar to either the top or bottom of the screen? many thanks in advance -- Italo...

You need to grab the tab on the palette and move it away from the edge, or
over another palette to dock it. Also, I just discovered the button in the
Control Palette that toggles the palettes currently in use. Cool. Search for
    "docking" in Help for info...
