InDesign CS Printing Problems
I created a 36 page, 2 color (PMS300 and Black)file in IDCS on a PC and took it to a local service bureau for output to separated film. The service bureau created EPS files from IDCS and placed them in QuarkXpress on a Mac for output to film. They encountered many End of file messages so created EPS files again from an Acrobat file but now the spot colors were output as CYMK.
When I finally got the film days later I tried to duplicate the problem on my computer (PC). I was able to place IDCS EPS files in Quark and print them (reduced) on a Postscript laser printer with no problems.
Is there a way that I can continue to work with this service bureau without making my costs go through the roof because they are having output problems? Another problem they were having was all the file names were being truncated on the Mac which played havoc with the links. On my computer they are fine showing 20 or more characters in the file name.
Do these people know what they are doing?

Re: InDesign CS Printing Problems
You should be able to keep costs down by printing the EPS files on your PC and supplying them to the service bureau instead of the native files. It may solve some of the 'compatibility issues'. You could also ask them if they accept separated PDF files(since you are printing to film). Otherwise, I agree with Bob and AG.
