InDesign CS with Pagemaker plugin very slow on text editing:
Hi,
We have InDesign CS with the pagemaker plugin and when working on a 10 page document with text and photos (photos are external) editing text on the page is VERY slow. When we use the text tool to edit a text box on the screen our CPU hits 100% and it takes 5 - 20 secs to even highlight a small selection of text. This has happened on the same machine ever since we changed from Pagemaker 7 to InDesign CS Pagemaker Edition. We also just did the latest InDesign CS patch with no change in the behavior.
The PC is an AMD Athlon XP 2800, 768MB of RAM, and a Matrox Millenium G400.
Thanks for you help!

Have you got temp files set up ok? Or do they need clearing?
I don't have any problem in memory changes like you have above in large documents and I also have the Pagemaker plugin installed, and my display is on the highest performance all the time.
How much room do you have for temp files?
I have a separate drive for temp files and it really helps with all the CS products. (I use 2G ram and normally have six programs open at the same time.)
You could also try changing prefs in
Edit/Preferences/Story Edit display

Re: InDesign CS with Pagemaker plugin very slow on text editing:
You may have a font problem or a video driver problem (though Matrox
drivers are usually rock solid)
First try different fonts. If that doesn't work, turn hardware
acceleration down to zero. If that does it, turn it back up and get a
new driver from Matrox. They update them often.
