Default Indesign CS2 - poroblems with numbers

    System: OS X 10.4 , Indesign CS2, IntelMac

It's an easy question. I hope there is an easy answer, that I couldn't find anywhere.
When I type in a size for my text, for example 10,3 points Indesign changes it to 10,3003030003 and so on. This happens to all the numbers (line height, etc.)

    Any ideas?

Try switching off Measurements Include Stroke Weight (although I don't know if that will help with font sizes). This is only a cosmetic, albeit annoying problem. There are many threads on the subject already in the forum.

Apparently, based on some recent posts, it's also a Boot Camp thing because the same thing happens running InDesign_Win under Windows on Intel Macs -- which makes me wonder if it really is a Rosetta thing at all.

    It's certainly a MacTel issue.

As far as I know, though, it affects only InDesign. I don't think InDesign gets off Scot-free here. There are all kinds of reports of InDesign not quite getting measurement conversions right and letting slivers of images show through where strokes and images are supposed to perfectly abut.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that this is another symptom of those issues. Although I'll be the first to grant that it is a particularly odd variant.

This also occasionally affects the artists here in Illustrator CS & CS2 and they're still on G5s...

(Of course, it's not a permanent issue like it is with the Intel boxes; you can quit & relaunch to fix the issue.)

Arcane though it may be, I should point out that InDesign CS2 running under Windows XP on a MacBook Pro under Parallels Workstation does not exhibit this problem.

I agree with Dave that it's not entirely clear whose "fault" it is. If it were purely a "Rosetta thing," then one would think that some other app(s) might suffer the same problem. I suggest we call it an "InDesign/Rosetta incompatibility," and move on...
