You're using a non-supported operating system so I would hardly call
    anything you're seeing a BUG.

The icons for InDesign file types are based on a "shell extension" file icon handler .DLL file, installed as part of InDesign. It is not Windows XP 64 Bit Version-compatible.

Be aware that Adobe does not officially support the 64-bit version of Windows XP. For better or worse, Microsoft did not make that version fully backwards compatible with existing system and application software. If you do use that version of Windows with any Adobe applications and especially with Acrobat, you should understand that you are essentially operating in "experiment mode" and that results may be unpredictable. The current versions of Adobe applications will NOT be updated for this compatibility.
