Default Indesign index is not clickable in exported pdf file

I created an Index in InDesign. When I exported the document to pdf, the Index items are not clickable (i.e., if you click on an index item, it does not send you to that location in the document). The InDesign document was converted from PageMaker. The PageMaker document index DID work when exported to pdf.

How do I get the Index to "work" when exported into pdf?

When exporting PDF (creating PostScript and Distilling does not work), be sure to check the options for Bookmarks, Hyperlinks, and Interactive Elements at the bottom of the General panel.

Great - thanks! You are correct - I didn't know about the page numbers. When exported from PageMaker, one could click on any part of the Index item. Also, the Bookmark selection in Adobe displayed the entire Index when exported from Pagemaker. Apparently InDesign does not. That was a nice function.

Here's a copy of my old catalog that was converted to PDF from PageMaker. You can click on any part of an Index item and the Bookmarks display the Index.
